Strykr, II Kit
Battery powered LED light for all your adventures
– designed as a helmet light and handlebar light for your mountain
bike or road bike. The Strykr II can also be a great addition
for your motorcycle or ATV. Producing 925 lumens and weighing
in at only 520 grams the Strykr II will light up anything
you toss at it. The Strykr II will run up to 12 hours and
is completely waterproof up to 33 ft.
Strykr, II System Includes:
Specifications:
- Claimed Lumens: 950 Lumens (*925 Lumens)
- Light Head Weight: 174 grams
- Installed Weight: 520 grams
- Run Time: 3 Hours
- Measured MTBR Lux: 74 Lux
Mounting:
A standard handlebar mount is included in the package. The
handlebar mount base needs to be installed with zip ties and is thus not
easily portable and is meant to stay on each bike. The light head is
then screwed on with a thumb screw and it can be aimed left to right
easily.
MTBR Light Meter Measurements:
This light is advertised at 950 lumens and it measured 74 lux on our
meter.
The good news is we put on the wide lens and the light measured a
hair brighter on our lux meter. This is pleasantly surprising but the
wide center spot seems to reflect more light in our test room. It looks
brighter too to the naked eye so we wholeheartedly recommend the wide
reflector.
Light Meter Charts and Comparison Table »
Strengths:
- Extremely rugged construction
- Beautiful beam pattern with a wide halo
- Included wide reflector is a bonus and very desirable for bike use
- Weatherproof and waterproof up to 33 feet
- Long run time of 3 hours (*3hrs, 6hrs, 12hrs, Flasher mode 30hrs)
Weaknesses:
- Use of zip ties for mounting
- Light head unit is a huge compared to the competition
- It is outflanked by the Double Stryk and the Strykr SL
Bottom Line:
It is a solid light but the Double Stryk is a much better light and a better value. The SL is sleeker and more versatile.
Here's a great synopsis of our Strykr series light systems sent to a forum member on MTBR.com:
The Baja Designs Strykr series systems have multiple levels that break
down by halves, so you have 3hrs on High (925 lumens), 6hrs on Medium
(roughly 450
lumens), and 12hrs of Low (roughly 225 lumens), the Flasher mode last
for up to
30hrs on a full battery on the single beam systems. The Double Stryk
gets half
the burn time that the single beam systems get, but generally you are
able to
cruise around in the Mid and Low settings and still have more than
plenty of
light. Of course the ultimate combo is the Double Stryk and Strykr SL,
but
honestly with the level of light that is being produced you'll be stoked
with
any combination you'd like to go with. (but I recommend the most
expensive one)
The battery uses Sanyo cells, is fully armored, water proof, and is warrantied
for two years (the rest of the system's electronics has a life-time warranty), I believe two
years is twice as long as the best warranty in the industry. The charger that comes with the Strykr II is a smart charger (red when
charging/green when done) that takes 2.5hrs to top off a battery that has been
fully drained.

2012 MTBR.com Light Shootout review of Baja Designs Strykr II:
This year, the Strykr is called the Strykr II and the output has
increased from 700 claimed lumens to 950. On our light meter, the
reading has increased from 52 lux to 74 lux so it is noticeably
brighter. Baja Designs has extensive Motorcycle and Offroad lights racing
experience and have continued to improve their rugged bike light. The
head unit is big and made of very sturdy aluminum with the front rim
protected by a rubber casing. The battery is nicely sealed as well as
this light seems ready to take on the roughest conditions. The light is
waterproof too and can be submerged up to 33 feet.
The system comes an extra reflector as
well that can be used to produce a wider beam. We tried the wide
reflector and it is remarkable and we fully recommend it instead of the
stock one. The wide reflector makes the center spot a flat oblong shape
instead of round. The outer halo is the same but the center is much
wider and lights up more of the trail with the intense center beam.
